Website Keyword Research Services for SEO

I believe every successful website starts with a plan. Ours starts with keyword research.

Before we design a page, write a headline or build your website menu, we identify what your customers are searching for. We use that research to create the blueprint for your website.

At Website Rescue Co, we’re more than web designers—we’re website developers. Our website keyword research services are an integral part of every website we build.

Whether we’re rescuing an existing website or planning a new one, keyword research is always the first step.

Why Most Websites Never Reach Their Potential

Over my career I’ve audited hundreds of websites, and one problem keeps appearing.

The website was designed first, and SEO was considered later.

Pages were created without keyword research.

Important services were missing.

The website structure didn’t match the way customers searched.

I’ve seen websites with three or four pages all trying to rank for the same keyword.

Instead of helping, the pages can end up competing with each other. Part of our research is working out which page should target which keyword so every important search has a clear home on your website.

By the time the owner realised there was a problem, thousands of dollars had been spent & fixing it often meant rebuilding large sections of the website.

The biggest SEO mistakes are usually made before the website is even launched.

That’s why every website rescue starts with keyword research.

Why SEO Is an Investment, Not an Expense

Many businesses rely on Google Ads or Meta Ads to generate enquiries. There’s nothing wrong with paid advertising, and it can be an effective way to grow a business. The problem is that every click costs money.

When the advertising budget stops, the enquiries often slow down or stop as well.

I believe your website should become an asset that continues to attract customers long after it’s been built. By investing in keyword research and SEO from the beginning, your website has the opportunity to rank for the products and services your customers are already searching for.

That’s the difference between continually buying customers and building a website that earns them.

Our SEO Keyword Research Process

Every business is different.

A local plumber doesn’t target the same customers as an ecommerce store, and an accountant doesn’t compete for the same searches as a dentist. That’s why we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all keyword research.

Before we research a single keyword, we spend time understanding your business, your customers and your goals. Only then do we start building the blueprint for your website.

Understanding Your Business

Every website has a different purpose. Some generate leads, some sell products and others educate customers before they make contact. Understanding your business helps us recommend the right keywords and the right website structure from the beginning.

I might ask you to think about, if you where your customer, what would I type into Google to find your products or services.

Finding the Right Keywords for Your Website

There are the products and services you offer, and then there’s the way your customers search for them. The two don’t always match.

Our job is to bridge that gap. We start with the obvious seed keywords around your products or services and then look for related keywords, keyword variations and specific search terms your customers use. This helps search engines understand your business and makes it easier for potential customers to find you.

Search Volume, Keyword Difficulty & Search Intent

Search volume is useful, but we’re ultimately looking for the right keywords for SEO, not simply the keywords with the biggest numbers.

If your website is new or has low authority, targeting highly competitive keywords often isn’t the best place to start. Instead, we may recommend long-tail keywords with lower competition that are easier to rank for and more closely match what your ideal customers are searching for.

As your website grows in authority, we can begin targeting broader, more competitive keywords as part of your long-term SEO strategy.

Building Your Website Blueprint

Once we’ve completed the keyword research, it’s time to turn the data into a practical plan.

A website without a blueprint is like building a house without a plan.

Other SEO agencies may give you a spreadsheet full of keywords. While that information is helpful, it doesn’t tell you what pages your website needs, what your website navigation will look like, or how those pages should be organised so they may all work together.

That’s where our process is different. We don’t stop at keyword research—we use it to plan your entire website.

Keyword mapping is where every important keyword is matched to a specific page based on search intent. We identify which keywords belong on your homepage, which deserve dedicated service pages and which are better suited to supporting articles that build topical authority over time.

We also plan your website structure, navigation and internal linking so both search engines and your visitors can easily understand your business. Rather than creating pages at random, every page has a purpose and supports your overall SEO strategy.

Where appropriate, we group related keywords into content clusters to help your website build authority around the products or services you offer. This creates a logical website structure that is easier to expand as your business grows.

The end result is more than a keyword list. It’s a blueprint that guides the development of your website, your future content and your long-term SEO campaigns, giving every page the best opportunity to rank for the right keywords.

What’s Included in Our Keyword Research Services

Every website rescue starts with understanding where your website is today.

I look at Google Search Console every day.

It’s one of the first places I’ll look when researching your website. GSC shows us the actual searches Google is displaying your website for, the pages getting clicks and the keywords sitting just outside the top results. If Google Search Console isn’t installed, we’ll help you set it up so we can begin collecting the data we need.

Sometimes the opportunities are staring us in the face. A page might already be sitting at position 11 or 12 for a valuable keyword. Before creating something new, we need to understand why that page isn’t on page one.

We also look at your competitors. What keywords are they ranking for that you’re not?

Our competitor research isn’t about copying another website. We’re looking for competitor keywords that may expose gaps in your own website. We then use keyword gap analysis to decide whether we’ve uncovered high-value keyword opportunities worth pursuing.

Sometimes we’ll find a competitor has an entire page dedicated to a search term that your website barely mentions. That’s a clue worth investigating.

It doesn’t mean we blindly copy them. We check the search volume, keyword difficulty and whether the keyword is actually relevant to your business. If it makes sense, we’ve found another opportunity.

Our comprehensive keyword research brings together your existing Google Search Console data, competitor research and new keyword opportunities.

We bring all of this information together to identify the search terms your potential customers are using and compare them with the keywords your website currently ranks for. This helps us uncover keyword gaps and opportunities your competitors may already be taking advantage of.

Once we understand those opportunities, we can recommend the pages your website really needs. That might mean creating new service pages, improving existing content or building supporting articles that strengthen your topical authority around your most important services.

One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that trying to make one page rank for dozens of different keywords rarely produces the best results. Instead, we match each important keyword to the page that’s best placed to rank for it.

Our goal isn’t just to help your website rank for more keywords. It’s to help it rank higher for the keywords that are most likely to bring you new customers.

Finally, we review your website navigation and page structure. If visitors can’t quickly find what they’re looking for, there’s a good chance search engines will struggle to understand your website as well. A logical website structure helps both your customers and Google navigate your content with confidence.

Why Choose Our Keyword Research Agency

I have a genuine passion for building better websites. That’s why I launched Website Rescue Co.

Over the years I have seen many websites that look fantastic, yet they struggle to attract new customers through Google. In many cases, they only rank for their business name, which means they’re mostly found by people who already know the company or have been referred by someone else.

To generate new enquiries, many businesses rely heavily on Google Ads or Meta Ads. While paid advertising can be effective, it also means paying for every click. If the advertising budget stops, the flow of new customers often slows or stops with it.

I believe a website should be an asset that works for your business around the clock.

By starting with keyword research and building your website around the way people actually search, you create a stronger foundation for long-term SEO. Instead of relying solely on paid advertising, your website has the opportunity to attract people who are already looking for the products or services you offer.

That’s the difference between building a website that simply looks good and building one that’s designed to be found.

What Happens Next?

Once we’ve completed your keyword research and website blueprint, the next step is putting that plan into action. Depending on your website, that may include creating new service pages, improving your website structure, rewriting existing content or building topical authority with supporting articles.
